Leaving massage therapy

Reports vary but word on the street is that the average career for a massage therapist lasts anywhere between 5-8 years!

Besides providing relaxation and release of muscle tension and tissue release, massage can also provide the mechanism for the release of emotions. The release can be recognized through sounds such as sighs, laughter or tears and all can commonly occur during a treatment where the environment is safe and nurturing.

This can mean standing for long hours, working with your hands all day, or being bent over a massage table for too long. As such, it's easy to burnout physically from overworking your body. Common injuries in the massage therapy profession include tendonitis, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Massage helps with headaches, tension, sleep, your perspective for the day, repetitive stress on your body (like sitting at a screen) , circulation improvement for sedentary behavior, like driving, and more, says Eva Carey, our National Community Director at Zeel.
